Inspire

Sometimes an image, a quote, a moment, a place, a piece of music, a book, a website or a person can inspire you. Make you think, make you reflect, make you take action. This page is dedicated to sharing those things that continue to inspire us at Single Steps Learning. Maybe they will inspire you and your learners too.

The 'Designing for Learning' tab holds resources that we have produced ourselves. Please feel free to use or adapt them.

​Web-based Tool: Mentimeter
A online tool that can collect responses from learners in real-time. Sign up for a free 'teacher' account and explore! We love the simplicity of this and the fact that you can choose from different options - wordclouds, bar charts, scrolling text boxes and more. Just set up your question, choose your type of response and mentimeter generates a unique code for learners use. All of the results can be downloaded and kept as data/evidence.

A fantastic resource for everyone in education. Toolkits, summary posters and case studies. 
​​App: Chatterkid
A simplified version of Morfo - good for use as an 'animation' app with younger children. The app allows children to take/add a photo, draw a line where the mouth is and record a message. 
Web-based Tool with use across all devices: Padlet
We first used this tool when it was called 'Wallwisher'. We are really impressed with the developments. A small number of padlets (3) are included with a free account. Easy to use. Great tool for learning and collaborating.

We always attempt to use our own photograph to ensure that we do not breach any copyright laws. However, our alternative is to search the amazing selection of images on this website. 
Website Builder: Weebly 
We use Weebly to build and manage this website and the majority of our project websites. Great features for free websites with extra options if you chose to pay the annual premium. We like the simplicity of the drag and drop tools, along with the great choice of design templates.

So we must celebrate the changes because, as someone once said, everything will be alright in the end...and, if it's not alright, then trust me, it's not yet the end.

We are currently building content for our YouTube Channel. At the moment, you will find some of the songs that Andrew has written especially for the projects in schools and settings. If they match your curriculum themes, feel free to use them. Here are two examples, check out the channel for more! 
Community Check In
Free Resource 
We have used the following 'check in' and reflection prompts in our last few projects with schools. The Avengers Check In was part of our 'Trashformers' project at Our Holy Redeemer PS in Clydebank. The tricky part was choosing the strength/qualities you bring to a team, as opposed to your favourite Avenger.
