Single Steps Learning Blog

We are delighted to have been fully booked for the last few years, which has resulted in very little additional time to keep up-to-date with our 'blog'! We are leaving the page active so that our previous 'blogs' remain accessible.

We do add to our social media accounts regularly, so please follow us on Facebook (@singlestepslearning) or X (@singlestepsblog).

"Keep Fighting The Good Fight"

Today, we would like to pay tribute to our friend Colin Weatherley, who passed away recently. Although many of you reading this may never have heard of Colin, he has definitely touched your lives because without him, there would be no Single Steps Learning and no Designing for Learning training.
Colin was, and will continue to be an inspiration to us in both our personal and professional lives. He believed passionately in transforming education from a factory model, which processes and grades, into a real learning experience which truly empowers and enlightens learners. He had the capability to think differently and the dynamism to work relentlessly to turn his beliefs into action.
A few years ago, we came across a quote which said, ‘We don’t fight to win, we can never win. We fight because we have to, because it’s the right thing to do.’
Colin never gave up his beliefs. He never settled for the world as it is but strived to change the world into a vision of something better, a fairer, safer place for everyone and for future generations. After each get together, as he left, he would always exhort us to ‘keep fighting the good fight’ and encourage us to keep our shared dreams alive.
Ethical. Humble. Erudite. Tenacious. Loyal. Resilient. These are just a few words which easily apply to Colin. Often described as a ‘true gentleman’, he also possessed a sharp wit and a great sense of fun!
We feel very privileged to have met and spent time with Colin and we will honour him by continuing to ‘fight the good fight’, in whatever way we can - not to win but because it’s the right thing to do. Thank you, Colin.
